COVID-19 - Suspension of 19/20 Winter Season

The SDPL Committee in support of government guidance highlighting the risk of social gatherings etc has suspended the current season. The league will resume no earlier than Tuesday 21st April subject to further review of ongoing developments.

The 2020 Summer league has been cancelled to free up dates to hopefully complete outstanding winter fixtures and competitions over an extended period.

The Scotch Doubles competition that had yet to start has also been cancelled. Entry fees already paid will be refunded. All other competitions will hopefully still go ahead on rescheduled dates.

Details have been provided direct to all SDPL Team Captains who have been asked to cascade to all players.

Further updates will be provided in the weeks ahead.

The 19/20 Winter season remains suspended while we continue to monitor Government policy to manage the Covid virus and the associated plans to get back to some form of normality.

Recent announcements have confirmed what we already knew in that relaxations of existing lockdown rules will be gradual with the opportunity for larger social gatherings and reopening of pubs being further down track.

The Committee remain focused on completing the remaining 4/5 weeks of the 19/20 season and those KO competitions already at the SF stage. This is felt to be feasible on the basis that we still retain the option to delay the start of the 20/21 season and if necessary to revise next year's Summer League format.

Any resumption however is unlikely before August and even then it will almost certainly require some modifications to allow for a gradual resumption. The Committee will continue to review the position.

As always happy to discuss. In the meantime Team Captains continue to be kept informed of developments.

The 2019-20 season will resume on the 25th August (tonight).
All Captains should of been sent the relevant documents regarding the new rules, fixtures & dates for all remaining games, if there are any problems or questions then please contact a member of the comittee.

Enjoy the remainder of the season & stick to your venues guidelines & rules!
